The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) is the new name for Singapore Tourist Promotion Board since 19 November 1997. The change in name also marked the change of role from a destination marketer to a total tourism and experience architect. STB now has additional roles of developing Singapore into a tourism business centre and a tourist hub for the region.

Roles and Responsibilities
(1) Destination marketing by jointly promoting Singapore and the region in a complementary manner.
(2) Development of tourism further as a business, focusing on nurturing and developing the cruise industry, lifestyle business
and manpower development, attracting tourism-related companies to invest in Singapore, encouraging the
development of new attractions and experiences, and creating new opportunities for the industry.
(3) Encouragement of tourism companies with regional businesses to set up their operational headquarters in Singapore, and thus enhance Singapore's status as a tourism business centre and hub.
(4) Development of Tourism Training and the Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibition industry (MICE for short).
