The first hospital set up in Singapore was known then as the General Hospital. Established in 1821, it is the oldest medical institution in Singapore.  It's first site was a humble location in the Cantonment for British troops located near Bras Basah and Stamford Road. It was relocated and rebuilt five times before it was move to its present site at Outram Park campus, formerly known as Sepoy Lines.
